Planning a UK holiday

When it comes to planning a family holiday it can often be seen as a really difficult task. But it doesn’t have to be. The key to planning a successful family holiday is about being prepared so we have put together some tips that will be simple to follow and help you to create an epic holiday to make memories with your loved ones.

The Planning

When it comes to planning, set aside an afternoon where the whole family can sit down and talk about your family trip. Ask everybody about the things they would like to see and the activities they would like to do. When you have this all written down you can start to have a look at destinations that tick the boxes. Google things like castles to see in Wales or big children’s play parks in Cornwall. Then start to look for accommodation that is nearby.
If you are planning to stay in a holiday park it might be a good idea to have a look at all the activities that are on offer. If you are going during a busy period you can pre-book these activities before you arrive.

Think About Your Budget

Next, you can start to figure out what sort of budget you might need or what type of budget you want to stick to. Now going away in the UK can sometimes be quite expensive. However, if you shop around you can get some good deals. If you are going to be going on holiday in the UK during the summer holidays then the chances are you might pay high prices during this time. Most of the time this is unavoidable so it’s best just to make sure you are prepared for the price and possibly plan as much as possible.

Think About The Food

When it comes to budgeting for a UK family holiday you also need to make sure that you consider the cost of food. The cost of eating out in the UK for a family of four can sometimes take you up to nearly £100 per meal. Therefore, if you go away for seven nights, you are going to part with £700 just on eating out.
This means that you should think about using self-catering facilities and eating in your accommodation for a couple of nights or at least.
Keep an eye out for offers, often you will see restaurants offering children to eat for free or children eat for one pound when you have a paying adult.

Think About Packing

The weather in the UK makes it difficult for you to pack light. Never quite knowing what the weather is going to be doing, it makes sense to pack extra clothes for wet and windy days!
Make sure that you have swimwear as well as plenty of towels and things like a waterproof changing robe to make sure that your children are staying warm. Beaches can sometimes get a little bit cold so it’s important to make sure that they are wrapped up and able to enjoy the day, whether it’s sunny or not.

If you want to make it a little bit easier on yourself it’s a good idea to wait until the week before you travel and have a look at what the weather forecast is. The UK weather forecast isn’t always reliable. But it will give you a good idea of what you could maybe remove from your packing.

Follow these tips then your UK break should be a little bit less stressful. As long as you think ahead, planning a family holiday in the UK does not need to be challenging.
