Keep Your Space Clean

To freshen up the look of your home, you can start by decluttering it and getting rid of items that you no longer need. Keeping your home clean and organised may seem like a daunting task, but it can be done with a few easy tips and tricks. For example, it might be beneficial to create a cleaning schedule that you can stick to, as this will ensure that you can stay on top of your cleaning tasks every month. There are a few cleaning agents that you can use, such as baking soda to clean countertops and lemon to cut through grease and grime.

Refresh Your Cupboard Furniture

If you are looking for a way to update your cupboard furniture without the need for a major overhaul, you may just need to pay attention to a few details. For example, you can get cabinet handles from Corston, as well as cupboard handles and drawer handles, which will transform the look of your space. These hand-finished architectural details will help you incorporate timeless designs into your home, regardless of the type of your property. This is because each product is made with an extra level of care and attention to suit any style of furniture.

Decorate Blank Walls

Making the most of wall décor to fill empty walls in your house is a great way to beautify your space with a bit of imagination and creativity. For instance, if you have a blank wall in your living room and you are looking to make a design impact with no effort, you can fill it with an oversized clock. To create a dramatic effect, consider adding a series of paintings which will immediately draw the eye. You can also incorporate floating shelves, which can be used to display your favourite accessories.

Update Your Front Door

Your front door is one of the first things that your guests will notice, so it makes sense that you wouldn’t want to leave it looking worn out and dull. It’s also possible that all your front door needs is a splash of paint. Using bold colours is an effective way to make a statement, while going for dark shades may help you add a level of sophistication. In addition, you may want to upgrade your doorknob if it has suffered a lot of damage over time.

Introduce A New Fragrance

Don’t forget that you should think about satisfying all of your senses, so ensuring your home not only looks but smells amazing can go a long way. There are many home fragrances you can use, such as by investing in an essential oil diffuser, which will help you disperse natural oils in your home, such as lavender and jasmine. You may also get a few scented candles, depending on what you like, and you will have your home smelling like a spa in no time. Moreover, you can always pick up a few fresh flowers to instantly refresh your home.

Add New Accessories

Although adding accessories may seem like an obvious choice for many, it’s crucial to choose the right accessories, that will help you show off your home’s uniqueness. No matter what your preferences are, there are many combinations of colours and patterns that you can use when looking for home accessories. For example, decorating with artwork can provide you with a variety of options to personalise your space. Adding mirrors can be another great way to make your place look more spacious and brighter. Also, selecting a nice rug for your living room can help you create warmth and comfort unlike any other floor covering.

Rearrange The Furniture

At times, all you need to do is move furniture around to give your home a completely different feel. The best part about this strategy is that you won’t even need to spend any money. You will just need a bit of time and a willingness to rearrange your furniture. Whether you want to change the position of your sofa or where your TV faces, your efforts can make a huge difference in the end. Consider how you typically use your space and whether there is a combination that will suit you better.

Incorporate Houseplants

Bringing a few houseplants into your home will not only help you make your home more beautiful, but they will also purify the air. You can choose colourful pots or hang plants from the ceiling. Always refer to the care instructions to ensure you can keep your plants healthy. If you have a busy schedule, consider incorporating a few low-maintenance houseplants so that you can still open your home to nature. Also, make an effort to match your plants with the existing décor by choosing the right type of plants for each corner of your home.

Make Your Home Feel Brighter

The best place to start when it comes to brightening your home is to think about the lighting you have in different rooms. To maximise the brightness coming from your lamps, consider using LED bulbs, which will also help you lower your energy use. You will also want to ensure that your home gets as much natural light as possible, so it’s advisable to keep any tall items, such as bookshelves, away from windows. Also, be sure to choose lightweight and light-coloured window curtains to make your windows feel airy. If you usually go for dark curtains, consider changing them every now and then.

Give Attention To Your Flooring

An area that may sometimes get overlooked is the floor, so you should ensure you give it the attention it needs. Remember to often give it a thorough clean to help it look its best again. To refresh a tired floor, you can also incorporate luxurious woven fabric with a variety of prints and patterns, such as delicate florals. Moreover, consider painting your floors as an easy way to elevate their appearance and style. Another great idea can be to use ceramic and vinyl tiles, as you can choose from a range of colours and designs.

Update An Old Ceiling

Another part of your home that you may want to have a look at is your ceiling and consider whether it needs refreshing. Updating an old ceiling can help you improve the appearance of your home and deal with a range of problems, such as cracks or mould. Therefore, you may want to spend some time repairing these issues and cleaning your ceiling. For example, if your ceiling is covered with dust, be sure to use a vacuum and run it along the surface of the ceiling. Focus on corners where dirt might have accumulated.

  1. We are at that point now where everything is looking tired in our home. Our plans for next year are to decorate. What great ideas. I would love new flooring in the kitchen and going up the stairs. x

  2. I do try and rearrange my furniture once in a while. I guess a cheaper way of breathing in new life is to repaint your furniture and rotate your cushion covers and accessories every season.
