It was late afternoon and the kids were playing, when Jayden runs over to me with his tooth in his hand jumping for joy! He had had this wobbly tooth for what seemed like forever. Now it had fallen out and he was already spending his money from the tooth fairy.
Fab, I thought. At least it is not bothering him now and he can put it under his pillow tonight ready for the tooth fairy to arrive. No, No, No! Why would it be that bloody easy? After brushing his teeth and settling down into bed with a story, he checked his tooth was in place under his pillow and went to sleep (so I thought).
Tired Of Waiting For You
A couple of hours later after I had fallen asleep on the sofa and missed the end of the film Craig and IÂ was watching. Do you always do that? We headed up to bed. Great I thought. I can sneak in Jayden’s room before I get into bed and swap his tooth for some coins. As I neared towards his door, he peeped up from his quilt. He was still awake. Â Oh well, I would just have to set my alarm and try again so I did just that. I set my alarm for 12.30 am. What seemed like 2 minutes after, my alarm went off and left me wondering where the hell I was.
The Long And Winding Landing
I stumbled out of bed and off to Jayden’s room. No sooner I got to his bedroom door, he was awake again! Christ on a bike! I wish this kid would go to bloody sleep, I thought. Anyone would have thought I had a water infection the times I walked across that landing pretending to go for a wee. Back to bed I went, moaning under my breath in the hope that I would wake Craig up so he could share this shitty hell but he was clearly in the deepest sleep ever (or pretending) pfft! I set my alarm for 2 am and tried to get some shut eye.
I Can’t Get No Sleep
Shortly afterwards the beeping from my alarm could be heard again. I am so so tired by now, I feel like I’m hanging out of my arse even though I’ve not touched a drink! I drag myself across the landing expecting to be met by Rick and Daryl from The Walking Dead as I am starting to zombify by this time, you see. I don’t know why I bothered because he was still there, wide awake, waiting for the bloody tooth fairy. I thought this was never going to end. It was absolutely ridiculous.
This episode ended at 5.35 am when he finally went to sleep and IÂ could get my arm under his pillow to get his tooth. Â To say I was relieved was an understatement. Shortly after, the youngest wanted his porridge fill, so that was my 2 hours sleep over, yay!

I Got A Feeling That Tonight’s Gonna Be A Good Night
And guess what happened this morning. Jayden jumping up and down shouting “Two more teeth have fallen out mummy!” So tonight I demand that the tooth fairy’s collection point is in my bloody room!
He does make me smile. Are your kids too excited to sleep when they know the tooth fairy is coming? Share your tired hell with me below!
Oh my goodness what a palava! Very sensible solution making the designated drop off your room I’ll make note of that for future!
Oh, it was! The things we do for kids ?
What a great title! You are very dedicated I would have just gone to sleep haha!
This is such a funny story! Looking back, I’m pretty sure my mum went to the same crazy extremes to keep the magic alive for me!
hahaha! This made me laugh out loud…
I have forgotten to play the tooth fairy a couple of times. I made up some sorry excuses to my girls. lol
Poor u, I would have gone to sleep and said the toothfairy realised he was still awake during her rounds so will try again tonight as he has to be asleep.
Oh my goodness what a nightmare! I’m taking note of this and going to have a fairy collection point outside of the girls room when we get to this point x
My daughter was obsessed with the Tooth Fairy thanks to Peppa Pig. Told her to wait a few more years.
This did make me laugh! One time I totally forgot about doing the tooth fairy thing before I went to sleep, so I had to go in to my son’s room for an early morning cuddle so I could slip the money under the pillow, LOL!!
Honestly this mad me lol so much! Sounds like an absolute mare u went through, great story thanks for sharing x
Hahah I love this, made me laugh! You’re such a dedicated Mummy, I’ve actually done the same with Lewis!
Awww bless you, how I wish the ferries left the coins in your school back than under your pillow ahaha lol
Oh what a nightmare! I have forgotten numerous times and always have to drop the coin down the side of the bed LOL
This made me laugh. I remember similar experiences when my kids were waiting to watching Father Christmas come!
