We love being part of the Asmodee board game club and I can’t believe t’s that time again where we try out yet another fab family game to play! Our recent game discovery is Concept and I have to say, it is becoming one of our favourite pass times!
Concept Age 10+ Years
The aim of the game is to guess words and phrases by using the associated icons across the board.
What you get in the box
- board game with icons
- 5 x sets of pawns and cubes
- 110 concept cards
- victory tokens
- 4 x player aids
- 1 x bowl for storage
- Instructions

Set up is easy peasy. Place the board in the middle of the table so all players can see clearly. Shuffle the deck of Concept cards and place face down. As you can see, the concept cards have an easy, hard and challenging section. It is advised to stick to the easy words when first playing, just until you get to grips with the gameplay.
Put the VP tokens in a pile close by and place the pawns and cubes in the bowl.

The main concept pawn is a green question mark. Place this first by the icon that gives the biggest clue. You then add green cubes to different icons to help clarify this main concept.

The icon board contains an extensive range of different concepts to help you to describe the word or phrase as accurately as possible. These icons can be used in many different ways and there is a handy checklist to help players interpret the clues.

You can then add different pawns of different colours to other icons to give subcategories, then cubes of the corresponding colour to give further clues.
When you guess the word or phrase correctly, you are awarded tokens. At the end of the game, the tokens are counted up and the player with the most tokens wins.
We’ve had some real fun playing concept and I know it will get plenty more use for some time to come.
