We’ve been trying out Chicken Run: Eggstraction by Outright Games on the Nintendo Switch this week, and it’s been a fun change of pace! Inspired by the much-loved Chicken Run films, the game follows the familiar flock as they attempt another daring escape. Expect sneaky missions, quirky gadgets, and plenty of chaos.
After only a short time playing, the style of the game really stands out. The bright, colourful design captures the spirit of the original Chicken Run, and the familiar humour gives it a great sense of nostalgia right from the start.
The controls are easy to pick up, which is ideal if you’re playing with younger kids. It’s a nice mix of light stealth and puzzle-solving, nothing too intense, but still engaging enough to keep you playing “just one more level”.
Gameplay
The aim of the game is to sneak past guards, collect items, and rescue other chickens without getting caught. It’s more about timing and strategy than fast-paced action, which makes it a great fit for families or anyone who enjoys slower, puzzle-based games.
There’s also a co-op option, which adds a fun extra layer if you want to play together. Working out who distracts the guards and who goes for the objective can lead to plenty of laughs (and a few funny fails too).
Chicken Run Eggstraction runs smoothly on the Switch, and we didn’t have any issues with performance or controls.
What We Liked
- The hilarious dialogue and accents are so funny!
- It’s perfect for younger players or families to enjoy together.
- Co-op mode is great fun and adds replay value.
- The missions are short and easy to jump in and out of.
Chicken Run: Eggstraction is a fun, family-friendly game that doesn’t take itself too seriously. While it’s not the most challenging title out there, it’s one we’ve enjoyed dipping into together.
If you’re after something light, cheerful, and full of personality, this one’s worth a go.
