If you have ever had the experience, we are sure that you will agree that there is no greater feeling of freedom, fun, and quality time than a good old fashioned campervan holiday. Whether you are planning a trip with your friends or something special with your family, there are lots of different elements that go into putting together a perfect campervan vacation. But even with the best-laid plans, there are some things you cannot avoid.
Even if you are covered by the best campervan insurance website, it won’t protect you against the elements. You never hope for bad weather on a trip, but on those days when the rain is pouring and the wind is howling, there is nothing better than a board game to help pass the time! With that in mind, here are some suggestions for the best board games for a campervan holiday.
Scrabble
You can’t beat a tried and tested classic. The great thing about Scrabble is that no matter how many times you play it, it is never the same twice. The different words and score combinations that can arise from a keenly contested game of Scrabble means that it never gets boring. That is, of course, unless you happen to be travelling with a wordsmith who never loses a game! It’s always best to bring a dictionary along for the ride to nip any potential arguments in the bud!
Monopoly
If you want a game that is going to while away a few hours of inclement weather without even realising it, then Monopoly is the perfect solution. The classic property tycoon board game is a long adventure to embark upon if you want to go all the way and play right through to the end. When you have a group who are invested in racking up those hotels, then it can be really fun and just a tiny bit competitive!
BattleShips
Depending on which brand of game you buy, BattleShips can be a great option to play in a campervan because two people can contest a game without necessarily having to sit opposite one another. If you are a tiny bit pushed for space in your campervan, then it can be fun to have your shipboard on your lap and your opponent’s board on theirs, playing together but comfortably resting in different parts of the van. And let’s not forget there’s always the old-fashioned pen and paper game for an impromptu session.
Cards Against Humanity
This adult favourite might not be the ideal game for a young family, but if you are camping with your friends, there is no better way to spend an afternoon or evening inside your van! Those who have played it before will know that things can get a little bit naughty, but when you are playing with the perfect group, believe us when we say that you will be crying with laughter. And the best part is, it is less about being competitive and more about just enjoying the crazy answers that are created by the controversial cards!
So, now that you have your board games sorted, the last thing to do is decide when and where you are going. Happy camping!

Great suggestions for games we can take when we next camp
I love Scrabble and Monopoly and Cards Against Humanity is absolutely brilliant but some of it is really below the belt isn’t it haha, a game for when a few drinks have been had.
We need to try battleships – never tried it before!
