watching tv with popcorn

Our house is a busy old house. What with working from home, home-schooling and the kids being home 24/7, I’m sure you can relate that when I say that my husband and I could crush a grape when it’s the kids bedtime, is an understatement! We really look forward to ‘our time’ and that consists of having something nice to eat followed by binge-watching our current favourite series. If you are anything like us after you finish a box set, you are always on the lookout to find another tv series to watch straight after. So here is what we’ve been enjoying lately. I hope they give you an idea of what to watch too!

Peaky Blinders

Set back in the 1920’s the lovable rogue Tom Shelby leads the infamous Brummie gangsters “The Peaky Blinders”. We were a little late to the party watching this series but so glad we did! It’s bloody brilliant. Arthur had us laughing more times than I can remember. He’s such a nutter but one you can’t help but love. This is definitely binge watching material and we can’t wait until series 5.

Hand Of God

I was a little unsure of this at the start but as it got going, I was hooked. The main star in this is Ron Perlman. I think he played a great part as Clay in Sons of Anarchy so was really happy to see he was starring in this. He plays a law-bending judge called Pernell Harris. Purnell has a breakdown after his only son commits suicide and is totally convinced that he can hear the voice of God. That’s where the mad sh*t begins! It is full of action suspense and dry humour.  It has loads of twists which keeps you guessing what will happen next.

Better Call Saul

I don’t think this one needs much of an explanation do you? I don’t think there are many who haven’t watched Better Call Saul! I am so happy that the new series is now being aired so I can get my fix every week. All I can say is if you haven’t watched this before then do it!

Handmaid’s Tale

This is a new one for us. We have just started watching series 1 after seeing a lot of people recommending it and so far so good! In the future, a religious government rules the former United States and takes possession of fertile ladies. They then assign them to the richer families to bear children for them. It has loads of those moments that leave you rooting for the poor women and wanting them to get their revenge in one way or another. I guarantee you that you will want to slap the old bag Aunt Lydia, she’s horrid.

So that’s what we have been watching.

Do you have any good binge-worthy recommendations? I am always looking for something new to watch so would love to hear them!
