We all know how a road trip with kids can be somewhat trying at times. Saying that I think with a little preparation it can be quite fun. You get to share some quality family time together, have plenty of laughs and enjoy the scenery along the way. Here are some simple things to consider on a family road trip.
All Of The Snacks
We often stop at the services to stretch our legs and get a drink. But if you don’t want to spend a small fortune then packing snacks for the journey is a good solution. We normally take a cooler box and pop some sandwiches in there and some snack pots like Dairylea Dunkers. And of course chocolate for bribery a treat.
Get Organised
I make a list prior to our road trip to make sure I don’t forget anything. I normally make an extra list for things to keep the kids entertained and not forgetting to charge all of the techy stuff on the night before. We have been using this fab car seat organiser from LittleLife which holds all of the boys’ bits and bobs. They can just get their things out as they need them and the handy tablet holder is perfect for watching a movie on the way.
Be Prepared
Being prepared is quite a biggy with kids as you will know if you have little ones. Prepare for the bad weather and keep rain macs in the boot. I also have two little character fleeces for the boys that they can snuggle up with and would come in super handy should we break down. Another staple in our car is a Family First Aid Kit. Perfect for keeping plasters, paracetamol (for mum or dad) and medicines all in one place.
See, a road trip with kiddies doesn’t have to be hard going and if it is well you can always sneak an extra large bottle of Prosecco in the boot for when you reach the other end!
