If you are a regular reader then you will know that I am always starting some kind of craft project. This time I have been busy making a pom-pom rug for my boys room. I love how versatile pom-poms are, they can be used in so many crafts and they are nice and easy for the kids to make too. And with the change in weather now Autumn is on the horizon, this is ideal to get stuck into on those mundane rainy days.
What You Need
Assorted Yarn
Pom-Pom maker
Anti slip rug backing.

I used a Pom-Pom maker to make my pom poms. However, you could do it the good old fashioned way and use cardboard. As you can see the pom pom maker is really simple to use. Open up the maker and wrap your yarn around the one side and then repeat on the other side. When you have the required thickness, simply close the maker together and secure with the clip. Grab a pair of scissors and cut all around the edge. Take a strip of yarn and tie it around the centre. Leave a generous amount as you will need that to secure the pom pom to the rug backing.

Once you are happy with the number of pom poms, trim if needed and then tie to the backing.

Simples!

My rug is 600cm x 400cm but you can have it whatever size you want.

I am quite pleased with the results and Jayden loves it. This is such an easy peasy craft and it feels absolutely amazing under your feet. So snuggly!

That’s awesome that you made that, pom poms are everywhere now and I bet you’d pay so much for something like that in the shops x
I love pom pom rugs, we used to make them at school when I was young and these DIY has brought back some memories.
What a fun and quirky idea. I’m not sure I would have the patience to make that many pom poms though!
This looks great. I love the colours you’ve chosen. I am honestly so rubbish at stuff like this 🙁
This is so cool, and looks relatively easy enough for me – I’m not the most creative person, ha! Used to love making Pom poms when I was younger though.
This looks so cute. Well done – love the bright colours, too.
