As lockdown restrictions ease here in the UK it feels like there is hope once again for a better future. It’s been a rough old ride hasn’t it?!
Although it is good to see people out and about again, we are in no rush to be caught up in the hustle and bustle. We are taking things slowly and remaining safe wherever we go. One thing we are absolutely longing for though is a family break away. We have been looking into visiting the Lake District for quite some time now and here is what we have planned.
Our Itinerary For Visiting The Lake District Post Lockdown
The Lake District really is a place of beauty. There is so much gorgeous scenery to explore and with the majority of the attractions and landmarks being outdoors, it means we will be remaining safe and keeping social distancing in mind during our post lockdown adventures.
South Lakes Safari Zoo
We love visiting the zoo. There are over 1000 animals cared for at South Lakes and I know the boys will be so excited to see them all.
You can also book animal encounters, zookeeper experiences, or even adopt an animal which would make such a lovely gift.
Rookin House Activity Centre
This fun-packed equestrian and outdoor activity centre is somewhere we will definitely be visiting whilst in the Lake District. Rookin House is family-owned and has been offering outward-bound experiences for over 25 years.
There are so many activities I want to have a go at including off-road 4×4 experiences quad bike treks, archery, and horse riding. There’s even human bowling. You are strapped inside a massive bowling ball and sent hurtling towards the skittles! I think I will give that one a miss though.
Lakes Aquarium
For the rainy days (and we have a few of those here in the UK) we will be heading to the Lakes Aquarium. My two are fascinated by sea life so this would keep them entertained for quite some time. They absolutely loved The Sea Zoo aquarium in Anglesey, so I know this will be just as appreciated.
Wray Castle
You know we love visiting castles, especially when it comes to our homeschooling, so Wray Castle is on our list of places to visit.
The castle is situated in a beautiful location with breathtaking views and lots of opportunities for walks so you can appreciate the surroundings.
There is also a cafe on-site should we feel peckish and a toilet block which is much needed when you go out with kids!

Oh this sounds really lovely and something amazing to look forward to. We would love to visit one day. Well, we are going to Peppa Pig World (Paulton’s Park) haha. I am also celebrating my 40th with friends at an air BNB gorgeous place in Somerset in August and that’s it for plans so far.

We have been looking at breaks away too. The Lake District sounds perfect, I hadn’t thought of visiting there. x

Lake district has always been on my bucket list but I guess other than the breath taking views and landscape, I have never done any research to see what else you can do there so I really appreciate this list. Looks like it’s not just a place for adults but a place where the kids can have fun too
