We all know that when you have kids you have to have eyes in the back of your head and even more so when they first become mobile.
Here are a few helpful tips to toddler proof your home.
Stair Gates
Piece of mind when your little one becomes mobile and gets around more. They are great for stopping access to certain areas of the home and of course to prevent serious injuries on the stairs. You can get pressure fitted , screw fitted, one of ours has extended panels to accommodate our wide landing space.
Socket Covers
We have these all over the house. Stops inquisitive little minds poking fingers or objects into the sockets.
Fire Guards
We have these in both rooms. We have open fires going quite often so they are must for us. They come with fixings to attach them to the surround of your fire.
Corner Covers
When little ones get around they are on a mission and often do not actually look where they are going or could easily bend over to pick up a toy and bump their head on the way back up.
Corner guards are cushioned and will prevent the corner injuring little ones head.
Blind Cords
So many children have sadly suffered fatal injuries due to loose hanging blind cords. You can get blind kits which keep the cord away from reach. We have blinds in pretty much every window, all of mine are shortened and fitted with these safety devices.
Cupboard Catches
These are perfect for stopping your little one from opening doors and gaining access to all of those nasty chemicals in your cleaning cupboard or sharp utensils in the kitchen drawers.
Secure Furniture
Most often when little ones learn to walk they will grab whatever is closest to pull themselves up so it is essential to secure furniture to the walls to prevent them toppling over. This also goes for televisions, if you can’t secure these down then at least make sure they are put as far back as possible and keep cables out of reach.
Door Stops
A small stopper that is normally made out of foam/rubber and fits snug around the door so it can’t make contact with the frame preventing small fingers from getting slammed in the door.
As Parents we strive to keep our children safe, I hope these tips have been helpful. Perhaps you are a new parent or soon to be and will be taking safety measures in your home? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Are you going to become a first time parent soon? Are you in the motions of getting everything prepped?
