As a head ranger, it is your job to save as much wildlife as possible. As this game is based on real conservation organisations, it gives a true insight into the everyday challenges that are faced to save our wildlife.
You work your way around the board running projects and building your reserve. You can hire staff to help, although this can drain your funds, so building properties such as tourist lodges help fund your cause.
To start off each player chooses an animal that they would like to save, and takes the corresponding playing board and counter to play with.
Each player receives funding to get started. This has to be spent before you reach your HQ in order to receive further funding for your reserve.
As with real life, there are challenges along the way. At poachers checkpoint, choose to wait for two turns or pay a bribe. But we all know bribes are bad news!
The player with the most wildlife at the end of the game wins.
I love how Conservation Crisis faces the issues that real-life conservationists have to face. It’s not only fun but helps to educate our kids on the importance of protecting our wildlife. Another awesome reason to love this game is that with each purchase of Conservation Crisis, a portion goes to conservation partners to help fund projects around the world.
