As Valentine’s Day approaches, shop shelves are decorated with shades of pinks and reds, peppered with romantic gifts, soft toys, chocolates and all that jazz. We have always stayed in for Valentine’s Day, we’d much prefer a date night in since having the children, it’s just so much easier for us.
We cook a nice meal and have a couple of drinks after the kids are in bed, it suits us.
Celebrating Valentine’s Day with our children is something we have done each year. My boys always get a card each and a little gift. The one year I got them both a teddy bear.
This year we have some sweet treats for us all. I remember Swizzels from my own childhood, I have always been a massive fan of refreshers and drumsticks. Another favourite of mine was Rainbow Drops which were always my first choice at the school tuck shop! Did you have at tuck shop at school?

We also have a chocolate fountain that I sometimes set up as a treat for Valentine’s Day. I cut up a bowl full of fruit and the boys can enjoy dipping it in the chocolate for a special dessert after teatime.
The boys also do Valentine’s crafts and perhaps make a little something for daddy or paint a picture to pop on the fridge.
I just think it’s super nice to get them involved. It helps teach the boys valuable life skills, it teaches them the true meaning of love and friendship, how to express their feelings, to be able to show their emotions and the list goes on.

We used to spoil the kids on Valentine’s day but now they’re older they’re not to fussed with it plus they both have someone else to buy them cards now. hehehe x
I’m not sure what Swizzle treats are other than your photos. US had something similar when I was a kid. Remembering back to childhood, my favorite treats any time of the year were chocolate candy, Pay Day bars, and I loved getting apples at Halloween. Go figure! #MMBC
