Beasts Of Balance Interactive Building Game

I have shared quite a few game reviews recently but this one really is something a little different. Sensible Object’s Beast of Balance is a brilliant game for all of the family to enjoy and we are massive fans already!

The Beasts of Balance game to me is like the opposite of Jenga. Instead of trying to take pieces away, you build! Add a little technology and you can create your own little world.

 

What you get

1 x Plinth

6 x Artefacts

2 x Miracle artefacts

3 x Migrate artefacts

3 x Cross artefacts

10 x Element artefacts

You work cooperatively to try and get the highest score possible, which is great fun as a family to work together rather than create competition.
The plinth is paired via Bluetooth to the app which is available free of charge on Google play, iOS and Kindle store. You then scan each piece with the symbol on the plinth as you add it to the tower.

With this pack you get 6 beasts – A bear, an eagle, a shark, an octopus, a warthog and a toucan.

As you add creatures to the tower, they are transported into the interactive world in the app. You need to look after the creatures in the app and add various elements to the plinth to give them health.

There are so many weird and wonderful animals that you can create in your world.

Each time that you do discover a new breed it will be safely stored in the bestiary.

There are also spells which create different scenarios requiring you to follow the prompts on the app to activate.

Adding crosses to the tower causes a hybrid creature to be created and the arrows make one of the creatures migrate to a different environment.

 

Each addition to the tower makes it more challenging to add further pieces, you can slide creatures and elements around on the plinth to give more room.

It’s not all plain sailing though! If your tower should fall on your turn then you have to be super quick to rebuild your world before the volcano erupts.

If the volcano erupts before you repair your tower then the world is ended and it is game over!

Unlike Jenga, the pieces are all different shapes and sizes. Some react differently when you put weight on top of them too making it extremely hard to build high towers.

You can also play battle mode with your balancing beasts kit. We had the additional battle cards pack which adds another dimension to the gameplay, but they are not essential.

You can have two or three players in each game. Each chooses one of the elements Sky, Land, and Sea. You each take turns to try and add creatures to your world, each creature adds to your score. You then use elements to damage your opponents’ creatures or replenish the health of your own.

The battle cards give you the opportunity to be more competitive and strategic. The cards are also interactive with the plinth and send information to the game when swiped.

As you can see in our game ‘Sky’ won (that was me by the way and I am totally bragging about it).

Beasts of Balance is absolutely awesome and has had us going back for more all week! This is going to be brilliant to play when we have get-togethers over Christmas. It will just take a little more concentration after a few Christmas tipples!
