5 Ways To Transform Your Kitchen

We are in the middle of planning a few alterations in our kitchen. Although I love the countryside/farmhouse theme that we currently have, we could do with some new unit fronts to brighten the place up. Our existing ones are tired and need to be replaced. As a family of four, we will be trying our best to do the revamp on a budget and here are a few ways we will be updating the kitchen space.

Updating Fronts

A really easy way to update the kitchen is to replace your existing fronts on the units. This is something we have planned for the near future and I know it will make a huge difference to the overall look of the room. You can get some really inexpensive replacements to achieve the look you desire. I think we will be looking at a shaker style to keep in with the country/farmhouse style that we have now.

New Fixtures and Fittings

As time goes by and lots of wear and tear from daily use, taps and sinks can start to look really dull. If not cared for properly, they can become worn and damaged from limescale. The chrome coating can start to look dowdy and wear off leaving fixtures that no longer shine. There are some really good deals on taps and sinks and so many different options to choose from such as mixer taps, fountain, lever controlled, twist controlled and so on.
Sinks also come in so many choices such as sinks with drainers, some without, stainless steel or enamel. The list is endless.
But don’t think that it’s only the sink; you can make other changes, such as changing out the knobs, the light fixtures, and even your range hood. All of these really add up together to make a big difference. You can even add some additional fittings and fixtures, such as sconces on the wall or even a kitchen rod for hanging items (and that includes overhead pot racks as well).

Update your wall tiles

Tiles are a great way to make a statement. If you have smaller tiles like us, you could replace them with a larger style tile to create a feature wall. Perhaps use something super glossy such as metro-style tiles or for a rustic look you could use textured tiles that give a wood effect. Another look that I am fond of is a mix match of tiles using different colours that complement each other.

Add a splash of colour

A super quick and simple way to give your kitchen an uplift is to introduce some colour. That doesn’t necessarily mean having to paint a wall in the boldest colour out there. Instead, you could buy some colourful appliances or add some pretty accessories to brighten things up a little. You can get bins, storage jars and more in all sorts of shades.
I am going to give my existing pine table and chairs a makeover and paint the legs white. Perhaps you could do the same with your chairs or stools or reupholster them.

Buy some new Kitchen textiles

Another fab way of giving your kitchen a new look is to buy some new kitchen textiles. I love having a little change of theme and often buy some new oven gloves and tea towels. Many places often have kitchen accessories that match up with the tea towels so you can have a whole new theme going on.
