Hi everyone and welcome to this week’s #MMBC. I hope you all had a lovely week last week and thank you for joining in with last week’s blog club. And for those who celebrated Valentine’s Day, I hope you and yours enjoyed your day.
We had quite a few mild days last week, so I have been busy in the garden and cutting back plants as you do. There is a massive pampas grass on the one lawn which is really well established. I set out to trim it back and remove all of the deadened foliage from the centre, so that it can continue to flourish through the Spring/Summer. I got the hedge trimmer out as the stems are really thick on pampus grass plants. I began to start trimming away when something put the fear of god into me! Now we live in the countryside so this isn’t an uncommon sight but,,,, the biggest rat jumped from out of the middle of this bush and scurried off towards the fields. Now I don’t scare easily but oh my days! Doing a Michael Flatley dance with a hedge trimmer in my hands really isn’t a good look. My mother, who was supposed to be helping to pick up the cuttings, ran off!
Needless to say, I’m now considering removing it altogether haha.

Just seeing your pampus grass brought back “shiver down my back” memories. We had one. The children used to spread the plumes around the garden. It looked like large white birds had met their end. It took years to get rid of the plant. Very determined to survive.

I am very sympathetic! There is some major building work going on near our house and we had a “visitor” recently who came in through the lounge sliding doors. Fortunately I saw him come in, but I literally stood on the sofa hyperventilating until my husband and Dad had managed to encourage him out!
hahaha! The thought of your dancing about with a hedge trimmer really made me chuckle. Eek!

Oh I love to see Pampas grass blowing in the breeze! Yes, I have been gardening too over this past week and the weekend and I thought Spring had Sprang but it looks like it is going to get cold again from tomorrow!

I’m not crazy about rats. Glad you didin’t hurt yourself with the trimmer. I’ve wanted to add something like tall grass to my landscape. I need to rethink that now. Have a wonderful week!

Aww, Pampas grass. Brings back memories of growing up. My mum loved them and me and my friends us to leapfrog over them. They cut us to bits but we carried on doing it!? Good old days lol. Thanks, for hosting and the reminder.
