When we moved to our current home, we really couldn’t believe just how big our garden was. Coming from a property with only little space, left us feeling quite spoilt. Having quite a few comments on previous posts that some only have small gardens or don’t have any lawn at all, kind of made sense to put this post together and hopefully give some inspiration on how to make the most of the outdoor space you have!
Small Garden Tips
Choose Furniture Wisely
With having a smaller garden, chances are that you will not have much storage space. So opt in for furniture that can sustain the weather, such as oak or aluminium, that way it can stay out all year round.
Use Planters For Fruit And Veg
Just because your garden lacks space, doesn’t mean you have to miss out on growing fruit and veg. Wall hanging planters are the perfect solution.
Make A Big Impact In A Small Space
Choose a focal point, what area you would like to work on? An area to sit and eat, or perhaps an eye catching water feature, whatever your focal point, you could call in the professionals who landscape small gardens, and create a unique space tailored to your requirements.
Add Height
Give some height by adding a trellis. Also the perfect way to gain a little privacy from over looking houses close by.
Light It Up
Adding lights to any garden makes a dramatic difference. You could use up lighters amongst plants such as cordylines or simple solar lights hanged across your fence/wall. You could also use tea light lanterns to give off a soft glow at your late evening bbq’s.

I’ve never been a garden person myself. I don’t have a green thumb and can’t seem to keep plants alive as much as I love them. Though I did finally find my favorite flower this year which is the orchid. I never had a favorite flower before. I love walking in gardens though and admiring all the beauty they hold!

We are lucky enough to have a large garden but we have sectioned the end of to be a vegetable patch. Chris has lots of plans to make the garden more fun for the children but as we approach our second summer here we haven’t done any of them yet…
