We love a good game, and especially family games that we can all get involved with. That’s why we have recently enjoyed playing Don’t be a Donkey from John Adams. With today being International Tabletop Gaming Day, I think it’s very fitting to share it!

About The Game

This fast-paced game is recommended for kids aged 4+.  The aim of the game is to not be a donkey.

Simply shuffle the donkey cards and the dealer can share the cards out amongst the players. You need a minimum of 2 players and a maximum of four. So if there are 2 players then you get 8 cards each. Starting with the dealer players take it in turns to flip over their top card into the middle of the table. When somebody puts down the same coloured card, they shout Donkey! And try to grab the carrot before their opponent.

The player that doesn’t get the carrot flips up one of their donkey ears. It carries on until eventually, you have both ears flipped up and if you don’t grab the carrot after that, then you have to put on the nose and you are the donkey! You lose.

Dont be a donkey Game

This is a fun game that has had us laughing as we frantically try to grab the carrot. It’s fun for all of the family, both young and old. It’s certainly a big thumbs up from us. You can see more fun games over on Ideal’s Facebook page.
