There’s something special about having nothing to do but spend a cosy weekend at home. It’s a great excuse to wrap up in a blanket and the perfect opportunity to slow down and unwind. And what better way to enjoy the cosy vibes than by settling in for some serious binge-watching, especially when you’ve found a great deal with good cable TV providers?
Snuggling up with my family to watch a gripping series and some films on TV is one of my favourite things. After a busy week, it’s a nice way for us all to catch up, rest and connect.
Some of these shows help us do just that!
Learning Something New
We love Inside the Factory, especially now with Paddy McGuinness bringing his fun energy to it! I find it so interesting seeing how everyday things like biscuits, crisps or even books are made. Paddy’s humour and curiosity make it even more entertaining, and you always end up learning something new without even realising it. It’s one of those shows the whole family can enjoy together, and you’re guaranteed to come away with a random fact.
Getting Lost in a Good Mystery
There’s something about a good crime drama. I’ve spent many hours snuggled under a blanket and being completely pulled into Luther.
Idris Elba plays a great part. John Luther is intense, clever and always pushing the limits to catch the bad guys. It’s one of those series where we say, “Just one more episode,” and before we know it, hours have passed!
We also enjoyed Time with Sean Bean. It’s one of those shows that sticks with you. Sean Bean is amazing as Mark Cobden, a regular guy trying to survive in prison and Eric McNally, (Stephen Graham) is as good as the prison officer struggling with his morals.
Time is a great mix of tension, emotions and vulnerability that shows all sides of the justice system, in a raw way.
Cosy Time for Little Viewers
CBeebies has been a part of our daily routine for years like it has for so many other families in the UK. It’s there to start the day and helps us wind down at bedtime. My youngest especially loves it. As he’s autistic, the CBeebies schedule is perfect for him, it’s diverse and inclusive so he can enjoy his favourite shows that resonate with him.
The Christmas pantos are also a highlight, making it a perfect time to snuggle up with the kids.
I’ve even found myself watching shows long after my kids have left the room!
Sleepy Sunday Mornings
I love to start my Sunday with something light and uplifting. Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh brings the perfect mix of feel-good chats, gardening tips, all things countryside and celebrity interviews. It is the best show for those cosy morning feels, especially with a nice cup of tea…lovely!
You can’t beat chilling out and watching TV on the weekend. It’s a great way to spend some quality time together as a family, and to relax after a hectic week.
No need for big plans or fancy activities, sometimes being in the same room laughing or chatting about what’s happening on screen, is all we need to feel connected. It’s those quiet moments together, that make the difference.
Your TV Licence lets you enjoy a huge range of live TV. It covers you for:
- All TV channels, like BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Dave and international channels – but you don’t need a licence if you only watch non-BBC channels on-
demand - Pay TV services, like Sky, Virgin Media, and BT – but these are platforms that could have both live and on-demand services
- Live TV on streaming services, like YouTube and Amazon Prime Video
- Everything on BBC iPlayer.
This includes recording and downloading on any device.
We used to watch Inside the Factory, before Paddy McGuinness. I think I need to give it a watch now.
Ahh! Cbeebies! My girls used to love it! We loved the pantos and I always ended up watching after they had left the room. lol x
I really just love just being in my own home around my own things at the moment haha. I think it’s the weather. I love watching something under my heated blanket with my daughter. We watched Moana 2 recently which was expensive to buy but cheaper than going to the cinema.
I have loved the various crime/mystery series that have been on recently
It’s good to just unwind at home at times especially after a hectic week
I also like Inside the Factory with Paddy McGuinness. I really like Cherry Healey too.
We love to relax and enjoy family time at the weekends. We try to get out if the weather is good but also enjoy watching family films. Ceebeebies is also a favourite

We’ve been enjoying watching Inside the Factory as a family, if it’s a food episode we’ve been getting snacks to match the theme.
I’ve been watching so many BBC shows lately, especially comedies like Smoggy Queens and Am I Being Unreasonable? I do think the BBC make great drama and comedy shows.
My home is my haven, and I fill it with things I love. This is especially important the older I get. I’m in my 70’s, and my condo is my last planned home. I’m happy being at home but still love to share with visitors. Some TV shows or movies are like old friends who keep me company. #MMBC
