Have you ever considered starting your own blog? Maybe you want an outlet for your creativity or to have a platform to share your views and opinions, or perhaps you want to brush up on your writing skills? Whatever the reason behind your desire to blog, in my opinion, it’s most certainly worth the effort!
Speaking from experience, when it comes to blogging, it can be difficult to know where to begin. So, with that in mind, I’ve collected 5 of my top tips for blogging beginners to hopefully give you a little inspiration. Enjoy!
Get organised
If you want to take blogging seriously, then you’re going to need all the right equipment and to get organised! Setting up a small space to work at is ideal, having your laptop ready and a printer with plenty of ink – you can purchase Epson printer ink at printerinks.com here – so you can print out ideas or drafts of your work is a good place to start. Having notebooks and pens at the ready so you can jot down ideas and let the creativity flow will also help to keep you organised and not consider blogging too much of a chore.
Focus on unique content
Producing unique content is vital if you want to gain new followers and retain the ones you already have. While it’s perfectly acceptable to be inspired by the content on other bloggers pages, copying content directly is unacceptable. It will not only make you look unprofessional but as far as search engines go, you’ll be non-existent. It’s not always easy, but creating unique content is always best.
Whether it’s a short poem, an anecdote, advice or even a listicle – keep it unique, keep it yours!
Be you
Pretending to be someone else is exhausting. And if you try to copy the personality or style of a blogger who has built their success on their individuality then you’re going to get fed up of blogging very quickly. Readers love bloggers/vloggers who are natural and who don’t try to be anyone else. Just be you!
Choose your niche
You can start a blog about anything! However, it’s important to follow a theme or a niche in order to attract readers who will enjoy all aspects of your blog and stick around, rather than those who may dip in and out if not everything appeals to them. Some of the more popular topics include family, lifestyle, technology, travel and veganism!
Be patient
Believe it or not, blogging takes a lot of time and even more patience to get right. You might be hoping for overnight success, millions of followers and to make income via your blog, and that may come in time. However, don’t be discouraged by your blog’s lack of success in the first year or so, instead use this time to hone your writing skills, figure out a writing schedule that works for you, develop a beautiful website, learn how to take incredible pictures and enjoy blogging being part of your life.
