If you are a regular reader of my blog then you will know that we homeschool our boys. It’s something that took some serious consideration and it was definitely the best decision that we could have made. One of our favourite go-to’s for making learning fun is Learning Resources. We have reviewed Beaker Creatures previously and this week we have been using Stems®.
Stems® are a 3d construction toy that introduces STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) to children age 5+ years.
There is lots of fun to be had with Stems® and the options of what you can build with this 3D maker really are endless. Each piece has little bumps on that interlock with the next piece. They are extremely pliable making them easy to bend into any shape that you wish!
I would say that the recommended age is about right for Stems® as you do need to put in a little effort to get the two pieces to connect with each other. I think smaller hands would struggle.
Jayden decided that he wanted to have a go at making a giant ball first.
I noticed just how secure the structures were once built which is fab. I know Jayden would have lost interest pretty fast if the pieces were to come undone.
He then went on to create a DNA structure.
And a little man.
Jayden’s favourite of all was the crown as he said we all have to obey his orders now he is King. Not on your nelly young man!
I love how creative you can be with Stems®. They are a great way to explore 3D geometry, problem-solving, hand-eye coordination and fine motor coordination. Learning through play, you can’t beat it!

These look a fantastic addition to home Ed resources. The potential is endless and with those bright colours, very attention grabbing!
Wow that is a seriously impressive structure! I love how you they can just let their imaginations run wild creating with that what a super idea!
These look and sound great. Perfect for learning in a fun way. STEM toys are so brilliant.
Oh wow these look like so much fun! I’ve never seen anything like them before, but my daughter loves building things, so these would be perfect for her 🙂

This looks like such a great learning resource for children. It’s just the sort of thing my son would love, he has a magnetic shapes set and loves building with it.
What amazing creations! These look so cool. I need to get something like this for my daughter to help with her hand/eye co-ordination. I love Learning Resources. It’s my one stop shop for kids learning activities. x
I’ve not seen this before. I can imagine that this is a toy that would keep their attention for some time.
ooooh I’ve not seen these before but I think they will be a huge hit with my little one, he loves anything like this! I’m glad I have seen this as he barely has anything on his Christmas list so I’ll have to get him some x

Over the last couple of years, there has been an emphasis on STEM and good to know of products that help to support the children’s interest
Wow, I think your son is doing a great job with these! Cool creations! I think they might be too open ended for our boy to really enjoy them, but I must say this post has really improved my thoughts on these (I’ve seen them before but didn’t think they looked very exciting… but they do here!) x
