Packing Checklist For Going On A Plane

I have been lucky enough to have visited quite a few different countries prior to having our boys. We haven’t been abroad as a family as yet, but are planning to go to a few places in the near future.
As it has been so long since myself and Craig have been abroad, we are both so out of touch with airport and baggage regulations. So if like us, you are a little rusty on the rules, I have done a little bit of homework and put together a packing checklist of dos and don’ts when it comes to taking luggage on a plane trip.

Rules For Toiletries

There are restrictions on how much liquids you can take along in your hold luggage. If you do take liquids the following applies –

• Each individual container must be 100ml
• All items must be kept in a resealable plastic bag, which holds no more than a litre
• The contents must fit comfortably in the bag so it can be sealed easily
• The bag should not be tied or knotted
• Only 1 plastic bag per person
• The bag should be shown at security

What Items Are Classed As Liquids

Just to help clarify exactly what the rules cover.

• Any drinks, including water
• Liquid or semi-liquid foods, such as soup, jam and honey
• Toiletries and cosmetics, including creams, lotions and mascara
• Aerosols or sprays, including shaving foam, deodorants and hairspray
• Toothpaste
• Shower gel and hair gel
• Contact lens solution
• Other solutions of the same consistency

Certain Exemptions

In the following cases, you can exceed the 100ml limit.

• If the containers are holding baby food or milk
• If the contents are for medical purposes
• If the individual has special dietary requirements
