When we decorate our homes, we do it for ourselves. We spend a great deal of our time at home and we want to enjoy the place where we spend most of our life. Given that fact, we will generally decorate to our tastes.
Of course, there may be times that we do not do this. In a rental property, you may not be able to decorate, or if you do, you may be advised to keep it neutral so that it makes it easy to market the home to future tenants. If you are a homeowner, you may also hold back doing what you want if you are planning on selling the home and are wanting to provide a blank canvas that your potential buyer may be able to imagine in their own way.
But if you can do anything you want, and you choose to do, everything that you do in terms of decor will say something about you and who you are. As visitors enter your home, these first impressions of your home may provide them with lots of information about what type of person you are, especially if they do not know you too well.
What To Hang On Your Walls
What you hang on your walls says something about you. And whether you choose to fill your walls with Abstract art prints or family photos, is entirely your choice.
Photos of your family will show that the people in your life are important to you. You may well enjoy personal nostalgia and spend a lot of time reminiscing about great times that you have had.
Abstract prints may show that you have a creative side, as well as demonstrating emotional intelligence.
Ornaments
Having a lot of ornaments around your home will show that you have a strong sense of who you are and what is important to you. Ornaments are significant in your home as they often tell stories about who you are and where you have been.
Furniture
Having large, well-made items of furniture such as a luxurious sofa show that you have an astute financial sense and see the benefit of investing in the long term.
Creating Nooks
If you have areas of your home that are like little cosy corners, then this may be representative of being an introvert. Enjoying your own company often means creating spaces in the home that you can enjoy on your own, be that for reading or crafting.
Clutter Vs. Minimalist
Many people manage to keep a very tidy home with nothing out of place at any time, while for others, a busy home with lots of belongings everywhere is the norm.
Minimalist homes generally show that someone is very well organised and able to plan ahead. Having a home with lots of clutter demonstrates greater impulsivity. This type of person is far more likely to do something because they feel an urge, whereas those with minimalist homes are likely to think things through to make sure a decision is right for them first.
