Be Productive With The Ideal Workspace

Be Productive With The Ideal Workspace

When you work from home, as I do, it can be tricky to find that work/life balance. Knowing when to switch off and spend time quality time with the family is imperative. In my opinion, I think planning your day prior to starting is key. Here are 4 great tips and a very useful infographic from Pall Mall Investments, to help make working from home a breeze.

Time Batching

This system makes my day ridiculously easy. I break my day up into time slots and assign different tasks to those time frames. It enables me to get jobs done and on time!

Lighting

A must for working long hours at home. A lot of people can suffer from SAD Seasonal Affective Disorder at this time of year so investing in a SAD light could help no end. I have some really bright LED lights fitted on a shelf above my desk which allows me to work in a well-lit space when it starts to go dark. It makes such a difference whilst working.

Bling Up Your Desk

This may not be for everyone, but I do generally work better when my workspace is organised and cosy to sit at. I have pretty accessories and colourful note trays etc. I also have a pegboard with little quote notes on and such. It doesn’t matter if your desk is in your living room, you can still make it your own space by tieing it in with the current colours in the room. At the end of the day you are going to spend many hours sitting at your desk so why not make it an awesome workspace to be in.

Take A Break

Give yourself a break just as you would if you were an employee. Sometimes it is hard to identify what your actual working hours are at home and before you know it you are working stupid hours and burn yourself out. Working at home can be very unsociable too, so make time to get out, go for a walk or meet up with a friend for a coffee.

I agree with proper lighting and decorating your desk. It is also a must to get ergonomic furniture to ensure good posture. I like the infographic because it summarizes everything that needs to be done to be more productive.
