There’s something undeniably magical about Canada once the air turns crisp and the landscapes begin to shift in colour. From golden forests and glassy lakes to snow-dusted peaks and cosy mountain towns, autumn and winter transform the country into a breathtaking seasonal escape.
There are so many amazing places that I would like to visit and Canada is one of them. It has a plethora of wonderful places to discover, it is no wonder that it is a firm favourite for travellers alike. Here are just a few ideas to add to your itinerary if you are planning an autumnal/winter stay in Canada.
Winter Festival of Lights at Niagara Falls
Having two little ones, I know they would just love to see the magical displays that the Winter festival of lights has to offer. Situated at Niagra Falls Ontario, the breathtaking attraction brings over one million visitors from around the globe to come and see the wonderful displays.

Toronto Cavalcade of Lights
If you are heading for Toronto then this festive event is definitely worth a visit. The Cavalcade of lights has been a tradition for almost 50 years. The city’s Christmas tree is illuminated and you can enjoy performances from Canada’s musicians. There is also an awesome fireworks display to see and a DJ skating party.
Toronto – Ontario
Whilst in Toronto why not explore this massive city? Jam-packed with museums, galleries, theatres, arts, ample stores to shop to your heart’s content and plenty of amazing dining opportunities. Toronto pretty much has it all! Spot Toronto’s famous skyline icon the CN tower, standing over 1800ft high.

Ticket To Ride
What better way to witness the beauty of Canada other than a journey on the Rocky Mountaineer Train! Enjoy a luxurious ride by rail through the Canadian Rockies and across western Canada. With a variety of routes, all showcasing amazing scenery, much of which is inaccessible by road. Travel in style on rail cars with panoramic rooves and open-air vestibules. Allow the rocky mountaineer hosts to impart their knowledge of the tour whilst enjoying your gourmet à la carte meal on this chance of a lifetime experience. This really is what dreams are made of!
Do bear in mind that the trip will take roughly two full days of all-daylight travel (that’s between 10-12 hours on the train per day), as well as including an overnight stay in a pretty remote hotel. Admittedly, these trains are pretty well-equipped, and as mentioned, most tickets include chef-cooked hot meals, but you may still want to take along plenty of snacks, as well as all-important entertainment for your ride. It’s also worth thinking about how you’ll communicate with folks back home. After all, you’ll want to send plenty of live-action snaps of the stunning scenery, but remember that Canada is also infamous for having some of the highest data roaming charges in the world. So, prepare for the picture influx by researching the best eSIM for Canada long before you set off. Then, you can sit back and get snapping without once having to worry about signal or high sending costs!

The world heritage site was first established back in 1883. Take in the views of the Canadian rocky mountains, enjoy the thermal springs and if you are lucky, you might just get some fantastic snaps of the abundant wildlife. If you enjoy a walk then there are plenty of hiking tracks to follow. If winter sports are your thing then there are ample skiing resorts just waiting for you to try out.
Boat Tours In Vancouver
Being able to see whales and other marine life just doing their own thing in their habitat must be truly amazing. You can have a 3-7 hour tour from Granville Island in Vancouver. Cruise along the Salish sea and strait of Georgia and listen to interesting facts from the tour guide along the way.

Notre Dame Basilica-Cathedral – Quebec
Admire the beautiful architecture of the Notre Dame Basilica-Cathedral. It was the first cathedral built in North America. It has undergone so many changes over the years, it is clear to see just how much effort has gone into this beautiful building. View the ornate interior and the striking stained glass windows. See the various carvings and statues of various religious figures.
