I love Christmas and enjoy the preparation as much as the big day itself! I also have my birthday on Christmas Eve so it’s celebrations all round for us. I do like to do my bit for charity as well. There are lots of important causes that welcome support more than ever over the festive season and here are a few suggestions on how you can make a difference.
When Christmas decorations become a little worn after years of use, I think it’s just standard that we go to homeware stores, shopping centres and supermarkets to replace them. Little did I know, the Cancer Research online shop has an array of pretty Christmas decorations. I think it’s fair to say that every one of us has either known somebody that has been affected by Cancer or have battled with the horrid disease themselves. My mom had a single mastectomy after being diagnosed with breast cancer and my auntie, grandad and both of my nans lost their lives to Cancer.
Simply choosing to buy your decorations from a very worthy charity like this makes such a difference.
Many charities have their own online shop and this is the perfect way to do your little bit to help. With Christmas almost in full swing as we busily shop around to find gifts for our loved ones, why not get a little stocking filler from one of your favourite charities? I love these novelty slippers!
Donate to local organisations
You may have a local cause that you help already and if not then there are so many organisations out there that you may not be aware of. I recently discovered the House of Bread, which is a charity that helps the vulnerable and homeless. The work they do is just amazing and they support so many people who are in desperate need of help.
Many organisations like these will often accept clothing, tins of food and cash donations. You could even consider volunteering and just giving them an hour of your time each week.
