Me Time And Why I’m Making More Effort

Being a mum is the best thing in the world. Having two little people who rely on me fully and who love me unconditionally, makes me so thankful that I get to experience motherhood in all its entirety. However, it can be so easy to blend into the background. As a mums priority, we always make sure everyone is happy around us, if they are, then we are. But sometimes we forget that in order to look after everyone else we need to look after ourselves also! I hit the ground running most days and really need to take a little time out now and then to recharge the batteries and practise self care.

 

Making Time For Me

I for one am so guilty of not making time for myself. We homeschool our boys which was our choice and one that we are very happy with, but it does¬†mean that our kids are at home throughout the day. I also work from home, so our weeks are always very busy! By the time Friday comes around I am so ready for it. So this is why I have made a little space in my planner each week to have a little ‘me time’. Just a few hours where I can enjoy something that I like to do and here are a few suggestions if like me you could do with a little time off.

 

Get A Hobby

One of my main hobbies is photography. There is nothing I love more than wrapping up warm and going for a nice countryside walk. I take my mp3 player loaded with all of my favourite tracks and my DSLR over my shoulder. There are so many photo opportunities along the way, it’s awesome. I also love snapping away at the kids as they play, capturing memories with the press of a button and then mounting them on my photo wall for all to see.
I have also started to learn crocheting and really enjoying just having the odd half an hour with the hooks and making something fun.
A hobby is a good place to start for you to take a break and enjoy some time to yourself.

 

A Bit Of Pampering

Pampering always lifts the spirits in my opinion! Perhaps you are used to painting your own nails, you could maybe consider going for a manicure and have them done professionally.

Enjoy a couple of hours at the hairdressers, treat yourself to a new style or a colour and enjoy the chit chat with the other ladies whilst there.

I have been dreaming of a spa break for ages now so this is one to tick off my to-do list. It would be so nice just to switch off for one day and relax. The thought of having wonderful treatments to choose from and winding down with a massage just sounds like heaven.

 

Watch Something You Love

This could be sitting on the sofa howling out the words to Dirty Dancing or going to watch the latest movie at the cinema by yourself. Both give you the chance to chill out and watch something that you enjoy. At this time of year I like to grab some time to watch Christmas films. Home Alone is my all time favourite and now my kids love it just as much as me!

    I always make some time for myself. Usually a Thursday morning. I always go back to bed for a sleep after the kids have gone to school then I’ll have a soak in the bath. It’s lovely. I always feel so refreshed and recharged afterwards.

    I have to have some time to myself I look after my little grandson all week and being older seems harder so I need it lol

    I love having some time for myself, when it’s my day off and the girls are at schol I love to go home, whip my bra off and watch a movie while drinking a cup of tea.

    Life can make it hard to find time for yourself but it really is important.

    I agree., It is almost like you become a mum and then stop being yourself. I try and schedule time with friends for a gossip and have regular date nights with my husband like once a month.

    I have some me time every night before bed when I make a cup of chamomile tea, light a lavender candle, cuddle in bed and read a few chapters before bed. Then with bed I play some light piano music mixed with nature sounds to drift off to sleep to. I really want to get more hiking in though but I haven’t had much time to do that this fall. Maybe next week I can finally get a couple of them in. #MMBC

    With so much going on in our lifes its so easy to forget about yourself, but if you are burnt out then everything & everyone else suffers so you time is so important.
