Sticky Mud and Belly Laughs

Valentine's Day Inspired Rag wreath craft. Shades of reds, pinks and cream with a decorative heart in the centre.

Easy Rag Wreath Craft

Time for a craft today and as Valentine’s Day is nearly upon us, I thought I would make a Valentine’s Day inspired rag wreath (with a little help from Hobbycraft). It is unbelievably easy to do and you could use up fabric that you may have at home already.

What you Need

A wire hoop

Fat Quarters

Decoration for middle (optional)

First I made little snips roughly 1″ apart along the one edge of the fabric. Then I literally ripped the strips off.

Cut to your desired length. I cut mine to roughly 5″ strips and that was plenty big enough.

I then worked my way around simply tieing the strips tightly to the hoop. I used both rows to make the wreath appear more fuller. I also used some cream hessian roll to break up the shades of red and I think it worked out really well.

To finish off I tied a little decorative heart to the hoop that would hang nicely in the centre.

Rag wreath

It now sits pretty on our kitchen wall. I love how easy this craft is and it’s quite quick to make. You could even get the kids involved too and perhaps make a colourful one for their room.

I reckon you could also do this with any scraps of material you might otherwise have chucked away! #MMBC

You clever thing, I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t look nearly so good if I tried to replicate it here. I do like a good excuse to go to Hobbycraft though…thanks for sharing #MMBC xx

It’s really effective. We have lots of fabric scraps so I might get the kids to give it a go. #mmbc
