4 Things To Do In Lanzarote

Before having the boys, I travelled to some beautiful locations. Lanzarote was by far, my favourite place to be. When I set off on that plane back home, I just knew that one day I would return. Only this time it will be as a family. The boys are at that age now where travelling abroad with them won’t be so stressful. Also being that little bit older, they will be able to appreciate it more too. If you are planning a holiday for 2018 then I would strongly recommend that you pop Lanzarote on your places to go list! And here are 4 things to do whilst there.

Timanfaya National Park

This stunning volcano park totally took my breath away. You have to see it to know what I mean. It really is like stepping onto another planet it really is surreal. It was created when over 100 volcanoes erupted and devastated that part of the island. It stands pretty much exactly the same today as it did back in 1736. There is a fab tour route that leads you right through the park. You will see strange looking plants and my favourite was watching the mini-demonstrations of how hot the earth is below. They pour water into boreholes which causes pressured jets of steam to fly up in the air. It really is something else.

Did I mention that you can have a camel ride?

This zoo adventure park is a fab place to entertain the kids. I went pre-kids and enjoyed it! I know my boys would love it there too. It has a  beautiful layout full of shrubs and flowers. They run shows to watch throughout the day and have a fun waterpark to cool down in!
They have an onsite restaurant and a souvenir shop to visit before you leave. All in all a fab day out.

Teguise Market

This is the mother of all markets. It is absolutely massive! Selling bits of everything you will not go home empty-handed! There are hundreds of stalls all with friendly folk enjoying a good haggle. I visited here via the local bus service but they do run organised excursions if you prefer. It’s so much fun with lots to see, definitely worth a visit.

Wine Tours

If you like a good bottle of plonk then this one’s for you. I went on an organised excursion being picked up from Costa Teguise and dropped off at Puerto del Carmen. You get to walk around vineyards learning about the whole process of the winemaking it’s an interesting tour and of course you get to taste lots of lush local wines! What’s not to love?

Sharing my favourite things to do in Lanzarote has put me right into holiday mode! All I need to do now is kit us all out with some nice clothes, treat myself to some nice womens swimwear and get booking!

Do you have any holidays planned for the New Year?

Hi Jayne, planning those summer hols is a fantastic way of keeping those winter blues at bay. Four things is plenty to keep people just busy enough during a break. A visit to the national park would be top of my list.

Hi, I haven’t visited Lanzarote for a few years. You can’t beat the Canbaries for a bit of winter sun. We did the wine tasting , visited the National park, oh and a little shopping as well in between relaxing by the pool #MMBC
